Sha-mail is hot in Japan
Sha-mail is sending digital images to and from mobile handsets. It's taking off in Japan (naturally) where J-Phone
is the leading carrier. (I believe 'sha' means 'photo' in Japanese.) Here's a general description of Sha-mail and set of sample images.
DoCoMo was already having trouble with its transition from iMode to 3G, now these guys are stealing subscribers with sha-mail using their CDMA enabled networks.
Just like iMode showed the world that 'mobile Internet' was really about communications (and marketing), sha-mail is pointing the way to what real people will do with more bandwidth.
